A special message from the EWPB Advocacy Committee

Denise Valz - Chair

The November 4, 2014 ballot includes important election races for Governor and other roles that affect our everyday lives here in Florida.  There are also several proposed Amendments to the Florida Constitution on the ballot along with two Palm Beach County Referendum Issues.  Executive Women of the Palm Beaches does not take a position on any candidate race, and has declined taking a position on the Constitutional Amendments.  EWPB does support a YES vote on the Reauthorization of the Children's Services Council (Local Referendum #1).  The Children's Services Council (CDC) was authorized by voters in 1986, and must be reauthorized periodically.  A YES vote will allow the continuation of this Special Taxing District which provides funding for children and families in Palm Beach County.  You can learn more about the CDC at their website www.cscpbc.org.

Elections are an important part of our democratic process.  You can learn more about the local candidates  and referendums by visiting http://lwvpbc.org/2014-nonpartisan-voters-guide/.  The Palm Beach County League of Women Voters has provided non-partisan information on elections for many years, and is an important resource during election cycles.  The Florida League of Women Voters also developed a guide to state-wide races and the important Constitutional Amendment issues.  http://thefloridavoter.org/files/download/914  (Florida Voter Guide)

The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections http://www.pbcelections.org/ is also a great resource if you need to check your precinct location, find early voting dates and sites, or even review your individual ballot.  You simply go to their home page, scroll down and select My Sample Ballot and by entering your address you will have a personalized ballot.  Most importantly, October 6th is the last day to register to vote.  If you or someone you know is not registered, send them to the Supervisor's website.  Voting is one of few ways that we can truly participate in this democracy - make sure your opinion counts in this and every election.
